IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Evolves into an Integrated Destination, Creating Lasting Value for the Broader Economy
IMPACT Muang Thong Thani has reached a significant milestone after the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) officially designated the "Muang Thong Thani Living Smart City" project as a Smart City Promotion Zone. The recognition underscores the IMPACT campus's commitment to leveraging technology, digital innovation, and sustainable urban management to enhance quality of life, strengthen public safety, and drive long-term economic growth.
Paul Kanjanapas, Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Land Public Company Limited, the developer of the Muang Thong Thani Living Smart City project, said that IMPACT Muang Thong Thani was originally developed with the vision of creating a fully integrated community where people can live, work, connect, and enjoy unban activities in one walkable community. Today, this fast-growing community has evolved into a vibrant mixed-use destination that seamlessly accommodates diverse lifestyles, where visitors can fulfill multiple purposes within one integrated destination -whether attending meetings, conducting business, shopping, dining, or living.
Looking ahead, the company's development strategy is centered on enhancing every customer journey and every visitor experience by making the community more convenient, safer, and more enjoyable. Guided by the vision of transforming IMPACT Muang Thong Thani into "a city to live in, visit, and invest in," the development embraces the Live-Work-Play-Learn concept to create sustainable value for residents, businesses, visitors, and Thailand over the long term.
A key pillar of this vision is the transformation into a Smart City, where innovation and digital technologies are integrated into urban development to improve people's quality of life while ensuring environmentally responsible and sustainable city management.
This commitment has earned national recognition, with the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) certifying the Muang Thong Thani Living Smart City project as a Smart City Promotion Zone. The designation followed the project's proposal submitted in April to the National Smart City Development Steering Committee.
The Muang Thong Thani Living Smart City project spans approximately 4,000 rai and represents one of Thailand's most high-density mixed-use developments. The IMPACT campus integrates residential communities, hotels, office buildings, educational institutions, government agencies, and the five main venues — IMPACT Arena, IMPACT Challenger, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, IMPACT Forum Hall 4, and The Portal Lifestyle Complex - within a single urban ecosystem. It is also home to more than 300,000 residents and welcomes over 5.4 million visitors annually, driven largely by exhibitions, conventions, conferences, concerts, and other large-scale events.
The Smart City initiative encompasses 30 development projects across depa's seven Smart City dimensions, including:
• Smart Energy – including energy management systems and district cooling management.
• Smart Governance – comprising electronic tax invoice and e-receipt services (E-Tax Service), the Smarty Application, and community resident service platforms.
• Smart Mobility – including smart parking management and intelligent traffic management systems.
• Smart People – promoting lifelong learning and creative community development.
• Smart Living – featuring smart lighting infrastructure and real-time air quality monitoring systems.
• Smart Economy – including cashless payment initiatives, the Muang Thong Signature Shops program, Geographical Indication (GI) product promotion, and smart MICE employment initiatives.
"Today, Muang Thong Thani is far more than a venue for world-class exhibitions, concerts, and international conventions. It is evolving into a truly integrated lifestyle destination and is well positioned to become one of Thailand's premier destinations—bringing together work, living, entertainment, learning, and business opportunities in one place. Through this transformation, we aim to create lasting value for residents, local communities, businesses, and the broader economy," Paul concluded.
